The Scottish Wild Food Festival is committed to ensuring a minimal carbon footprint where possible.
This is a wild food and foraging festival and we aim to keep it wild! That said there is a requirement for a level of infrastructure to deliver the festival and meet health and safety criteria. We are asking our partners, facilitators and customers to join us in doing what we can whilst encouraging and reinforcing responsible habits. See below for some of our practices:
Minimising onsite power requirements
Food traders required to use compostable serviceware
No single use plastic policy
No water for sale. We have installed a tap for drinking water refills
Please bring a refillable water bottle and keep cup for coffee (discount on hot drinks if you do)
Please bring a reusable bag for anything you may wish to purchase at the market place
Engaging as many local traders/facilitators as possible
Recommending customers/staff to share cars where possible
As a festival we also have a responsibility to take the preservation of the local environment seriously. One of our aims is to educate attendees on responsible and safe foraging. Our programme and information stands are underpinned by this philosophy.
